I usually don't like novellas because they usually leave me wanting more especially in character development. Even Abby's distaste for the firm's demands on her husband is dismissed by other characters as a typical wifely reaction. DeVasher is a ruthless man who maintains contact between the firm and its Mafia owners. I like a little more tension. But, in the end, he ended up with nothing.
From the story we learn that such issues exists not just among crooks, but also among simple people who see money as the way of changing their lives. He and his son are living on someone's back porch. It's entertaining but nothing remarkable. Overall, this was an okay read, but the ending was not very realistic at all for a legal drama. Another idea that author deals with is that people who commit crimes maybe able to justify them. I suspect this sequel was written to explain how such a bizarre pair ever became legal partners, and it was written for people who already loved them and wanted that backstory. Also, the foreshadowed information through the first few chapters would keep anyone wanting to read and read till the book was finished.
When Mitch, Abby, and Ray finally go on the run, Tarrance betrays them by launching a massive manhunt and informing the media that the McDeeres are dangerous criminals. He drops to his knees, holds his hands up but the policeman shoots at him anyway. He probably could have churned out a 400-page novel but realized the story idea didn't have enough depth, so he wrote a quickie 50-page short story. One night after making a drug delivery he's coming home when a policeman confronts him. Mitch hires Eddie to investigate the deaths of several former associates at the Bendini firm. Being a partner is really not that important to the story. The ending was very disappointing in my opinion.
We should be legal partners. Patrick's family and colleagues reacted differently as they notified that he was alive. The change in her character is abrupt and, if the reader is inclined to analyze it closely, hardly credible. Someone loves the law, and working diligently on the case, to help Sebastian. Huskey is stunned at Lanigan's cleverness. I liked this one, but I did want more character development and I wish the ending wasn't so perfect.

I did not feel the two characters were really connected to those of the story that follows. As with his lingering feelings for his addled mother, Mitch can feel responsible for others. Only once Tee Ray has been injured and on his knees does he draw a weapon and shoot the officer Grisham makes his mark with this wonderful short story, riding the coat tails of hi popular novel, Rogue Lawyer. At times, the characters and the emotional core of the events are almost obscured by such quick maneuvering through the weighty plot. The Rogue Lawyer is Sebastian Rudd, criminal defense attorney, he can always prove people are innocent before guilty.
I liked this one, but I did want more character development and I wish the ending wasn't so perfect. He had changed his name and his appearance, but they were sure they had their man. Both of these sections primarily focus on Laurel. The other agents, like the Mafia members in the novel, are flat and undeveloping characters. It goes on talking about how he stole the money had stored files for when he would be captured. Grisham barely differentiates the partners in the firm such that readers often cannot keep them straight from scene to scene. In Grisham's world money rules, and it is a sign of weakness to ignore its power. Yet he does not merely take the money and run; he spends valuable time video-taping explanations of how the firm operates; as he will never testify and though the tapes will not be admissible at trial, he still partially fulfills his agreement with the FBI by giving detailed information that they can use to crush the firm. The plot of The Partner was very interesting.
