Florante at Laura
Anyway, that's all, 5 stars! Ang kanyang kapalaran ay sinlagim ng kay Florante. We memorize lot's of vocabularies talasalitaan that time -bring back memories- I won't forget this novel ever. Si Laura ang babaeng sinagip ni Flerida. Its still a book, right?! Heck it's cliche'd to the max but for a story required to study in school, it's not that bad compared to Ibong Adarna. He held a secret hate towards Florante. Baltazar, popularly known as Balagtas, has been hailed as the greatest of Tagalog poets and his Florante at Laura acclaimed as a masterpiece. Ang lahát nang itó, ma-auaing lan~git iyóng tinutunghá,i, anó,t, natitiis? It's generally agreed upon that Balagtas wrote about a completely foreign setting and characters as a means to bypass the stayed Christian or attempted to spread that gospel upon returning to their native and obviously majority-Muslim lands.
Florante at Laura ni Francisco Balagtas: Philippine Literature
Anak si Konde Adolfo ni Konde Sileno. Completed in 1838, the work is dedicated to "Selya", his beloved at the time, and is an allegory for the state of the Philippines under Spanish colonialism, as well as the state Balagtas was in while incarcerated. But sadly, it never happened. Maybe just a trolly won't hurt.
Rereading ‘Florante at Laura’
I didn't get to appreciate the classics we read in high school because I was silly and my grasp of classical Tagalog was and still is, unfortunately shameful. One downfall in this book was the ending, it did a good job of showing that Religion was not a hindrance in camaraderie but in the end, both Flerida and Aladin convert and I feel like it defeats the purpose of the whole anti-discrimination theme and racial theme. It's Florante's first real fight. ¡O tacsíl na pita sa yama,t, mataás! I am not reffering to ALL. Nabanggit ang mga kopyang ito sa Biblioteca Filipina ni T. Listen to this, was Konde Adolfo's father mentioned in the book? Muntikan nang mapatay ni Emir si Laura. Poetic yes, but not necessarily great.
