Brideshead Revisited is a novel by English writer Evelyn Waugh, first published in 1945. The story is narrated by Charles Ryder, a young man who becomes enamored with the aristocratic Marchmain family and their ancestral home, Brideshead Castle.
At the beginning of the novel, Charles meets the family's second son, Sebastian, while studying at Oxford University.
