The Ghost of Christmas Present reveals to Scrooge the poverty and suffering that exists in the world, and encourages him to use his wealth to help others. Finally, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come shows Scrooge a bleak future in which he dies alone and unloved.

Though treated harshly by his boss, Cratchit remains a humble and dedicated employee.
