The Hunger Games is a series of young adult dystopian novels written by American author Suzanne Collins. The series consists of three books: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. The novels are set in a post-apocalyptic world where the Capitol, a highly advanced city, exerts complete control over the rest of the country, known as the districts.

I predicted the main plot twist less than a quarter of the way in and the fact that Katniss is telling the story limits the possible outcomes , but the suspense was broken when it was made explicit way before the end. In a metaphorical way it is promoting political establishments of certain countries and that is getting tiring. Did I mention these are children? And then we have some more berry foreshadowing when a girl dies eating some. Peeta urges Katniss to shoot him, but she convinces him to eat nightlock berries together.

Katniss was envisioned as a futuristic Theseus in the wound of Panem. We would be discussing how humanity can help each other with being better, with taking responsibility and with being open to each other. And in the end, it is just a book. It often requires a strenuous suspension of disbelief. I fail to understand its very high ratings.
