A Stitch in Time Saves Nine
There was once a man named John who lived in a small village. He was a tailor by trade and was known for being very skilled at his craft. However, he was also known for being very lazy and often procrastinated when it came to doing his work.
One day, a customer came to John with a torn shirt. It was a small tear, no bigger than the tip of John's finger, but the customer was in a hurry to have it repaired. John looked at the tear and thought to himself, "It's just a small tear. It won't take long to fix. I'll do it later."
So, John set the shirt aside and went about his day. The next day, the customer returned to check on the status of his shirt. John apologized and told the customer that he had been very busy and had not had a chance to mend the tear yet. The customer was disappointed but understanding and left the shirt with John once again.
A week passed and the customer returned to check on his shirt once more. To his dismay, the tear had grown considerably. It was now nearly two inches long and would take much more time and effort to repair. John realized his mistake and immediately got to work on the shirt.
As he worked, John couldn't help but think about how much easier it would have been to mend the small tear when it was first brought to him. He realized that a stitch in time truly does save nine and made a mental note to always take care of tasks as soon as they arise.
From that day on, John became much more efficient and reliable in his work. He learned that procrastination only leads to bigger problems in the long run and that it is always best to tackle tasks head-on. The small tear in the customer's shirt ended up teaching John a valuable lesson that he carried with him for the rest of his life.
