I am a musician who also writes only lonely haunting songs from the sea. Despite she loses her memory every few seconds, somehow remembers one important thing: she was separate from her parents, Jenny and Charlie as a child and sets up the goal of finding them again. If you grew up watching all those animated holiday specials on TV like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and scores of others they probably do. In 1959, Sammy the sea turtle hatches and spends 50 years exploring the oceans of the world. If only the writers had chosen one or the other, it would have been a stronger story. Now I just need to accomplish getting a full original version copy of the movie "The Bermuda Depths" Can any body help me out? The FX don't compare with today's or 1978's for that matter but it doesn't matter. Whenever I hear that song which is semi-regularly , I immediately flash to the end where we see the turtle plunging to the depths.

And yes I too would love to have a copy of this movie, and that lovely song at the end, so memorable. There seems to be no origin to why this creature, strangely humanoid in some cases, has this name. This movie is my Holy Grail. Perhaps there are others collectors who have the good version, I don't know, but I would be very surprised to find someone who have the full version. Which is why America decided to create this civil defense propaganda film in order to teach kids how to duck and cover in case a bomb hit, and why not go with a cartoon turtle? I found this review site and was amazed at such similar stories. You wanna know the best thing about this little fella? I saw FIRST this full version many years ago, and recently I saw the other with a copy made by a collector.
It appears the writers couldn't decide on which kind of movie to do. If I remember well the light comes from the sea. Carl Weathers is in this movie a does an excellent job. A sea turtle, who was hatched in 1959, spends the next fifty years travelling the world, while it is being changed by global warming. It probably deserves a DVD release - I'm certain a lot of people would buy it to relive their childhoods! What starts out as a good sea serpent thriller for kids turns into an unrequited love story for adults.
Like a solved mystery for me. The turtle and Jennie's eyes were pretty much the only thing I remembered. It all starts with childhood images of drifter Magnus Dens Leigh McCloskey , images that show him as a child playing with a little girl on the beach and more horrific sights that involve the death of his father. All the same, the movie still has some magic to it, and when you watch it you can see the makings of a truly enchanting buried under mediocre production. A young boy, Ben listens closely to his mother who tells him fascinating stories about the sea. The doomed romance element still makes my heart ache. Leigh McCloskey fared somewhat less well as his character's motivations were never really clear.

Suspend disbelief, and just watch the scenery and the atmosphere here - don't get yourself hooked up on special effects or lack thereof ; this is not Spiderman or Star Wars. When the world is threatened by an ancient evil, the four adolescent turtles must reunite and overcome their faults in order to stand against it. Kids were less than enchanted at the special effects, and my husband was looking at me like "really? King Triton forbids her daughter from visiting the surface so Ariel rebels against his demands.
So I urge you to check out this little gem from TV's golden era and remember, if you should happen to meet a beautiful girl named Jennie Haniver on the beach someday, your best bet is to walk away and never look back. What I mean is ditto to every other comment on this board. But the easier way to recognize the good one is an encounter of Jenny and Magnus in the sea. It make you visualize and meditate when you finish watching it. The acting is a tad bit over-melodramatic. If you ever catch it on television I've never seen it on video.

Whoever said being slow was a bad thing? Echoing what others have said, I saw this movie when I was about 16. As mentioned earlier "The Bermuda Depths" is definitely not like your average sea tale, due to its combination of sea spirits and sea monsters and it is largely because of this that make "Depths" as memorable as it is. Finally the two turtles brave the dangers of the Soon after he is released back into the ocean, Sammy is requested by two leatherbacks to help a trapped turtle in a container. All the collectors may have the same copy. It comes on a couple of times a year and I always seem to catch it right at the end. I only saw it the one time, the original broadcast in 1978, but it has remained lurking in my memory ever since.

For some reason, I thought it was "Archelon" Maybe a local station changed it or something. It's not the good version, but it's not his fault. Not sure I saw the whole thing but remember certain parts of it, the huge turtle, the girl, etc. I remember the movie as if it was yesterday. I saw portions of the movie again some years later probably 1990 or so and recall that the plot was not nearly as plausible as my less discriminating 13 year old mind might have believed and that the production values were lacking the sea turtle was pretty claymation looking.
